The next project for our class asked us to create a marketing campaign for a new music artist/group based on the genre that was given to us. Our group was given four songs from the R&B/funk/hip-hop genre, and we were asked to choose one out of the four songs to base our artist around.
After researching about two artists (SZA and Kendrick Lamar) in our previous work, it was much easier for my group and I to start developing this new artist. We split up our work load, and I was mainly in charge of creating a website and the merchandise for our artist, Jason Sterling. Although we all had our individual tasks, we still worked together as a group to bring the project to life. After deciding on some themes that we wanted to surround Jason around, we got to work.
The website was fairly easy to create, since I already had experience making them for past projects in other classes. I chose warm colours like orange and red as the theme for the website. Not only does the site feature his merch, it also features his tour tickets and items. I enjoyed creating the merch the most. I found it very calming to draw out all the details of the clothing and items.
One of the more challenging parts of the project included creating a music video for the song we chose. In the beginning, I was doubtful about this part of the project because creating a music video is a lot of work. But, I trusted in my group and we brainstormed ideas and got together to work things out. I was very pleased the results of our video and I'm relieved it all came together in the end.
After finishing our music video, we put all the elements of the campaign together and recorded a script to present it. Seeing all of our hard work come together was amazing, it felt satisfying and fulfilling knowing that we all put effort into this. Here is our link: Cmon Talk Presentation.
A video documenting our project's progress was created. If you would like to take a look here's the link! LINK TO VIDEO
